Health Effects of Tea

There is no oxidation with green tea because it is not fermented like black tea. Once the plant is picked, it is immediately steamed or fried to prevent the oxidation process. Then it is rolled up and dried. Green tea is similar to the tea leaf in its natural state. The natural ingredients are reduced only slightly, so green teas contain tannins and other beneficial ingredients. You take 1 teaspoon of green tea and pour hot water at 65-75 ° C over it. The infusion of green tea lasts about 2-4 minutes.

Bancha tea (Japan) - very similar to Sencha but is have lower caffeine contents and a lighter aroma

Chun Mee (China) – it has a very delicate taste and it is pale yellow in color. It is very inspiring.

Genmaicha (Japan) - a medium quality Sencha tea mixed with toasted rice and corn (puffed rice). The tea has a light brown color and a slightly "smoky" or "nutty" flavor.

Gun powder (China) – it is rolled into small balls. The tea leaves are rolled back in the cup. The infusion is bright, the taste is slightly bitter and it is very stimulating.

Gyokuro (Japan) - This is one of the best Japanese teas. This green tea is grown in the shade, has a very mild taste and a subtle spiciness. This is a suitable for tea connoisseurs.

Pi Lo Chun (China) – It has a lovely, fresh and sophisticated fragrance.

Matcha (Japan) – This is a powdered green tea; the tea leaves are obtained from Gyokuro. This green tea is used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. Matcha has a jade green color and the aroma is very fine and spicy.

Sencha (Japan) – This is one of the most widely consumed green teas in Japan. It is characterized by a mixture of subtle sweetness, bitterness and a fresh green scent. The taste varies in intensity according to the season in which the Sencha tea was harvested. The color is clear, bright to pale green.

Tea with milk

According to a study conducted in Chicago, black tea promotes the relaxation of the arteries. However, this effect is also enhanced by the addition of milk.
Green tea for cancer

The mutation of cells that cause cancer is inhibited by the catechins contained in green tea. Evidence was brought by Dr. Kada from the State Genetics Research Center in Japan.

The main active ingredients in green tea are the polyphenols. They act as strong radical scavengers. Radical scavengers are substances that can scavenge free radicals and neutralize their damaging effects. They are much stronger than vitamin C and F. They have a protective effect on the skin, colon and lung. Green tea also normalizes the blood fat levels and decreases the risks of blood clotting. According to scientists, "green tea has been proven to treat cancer and prevent the spread of metastases". However, it is not an alternative to the conventional cancer therapy. In addition to this, some drugs react with tea and become ineffective.

The insidious effect

This is particularly important, considering the recent studies on the interaction of green tea and a new cancer drug containing the active ingredient bortezomid. Actually, this drug should penetrate into the cancer cells and block their metabolism. However, the flavonoids contained in green tea, in particular the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), attack the active ingredient of the drug and thereby make it ineffective. This is very tricky because the patients treated with this drug might feel better after being administered green tea extracts. However, the side effects of cancer treatment may not occur because the drug is no longer effective.

The research team provides the solution to the "chaos of conflicting results" in well-designed randomized controlled experiments, for example in experiments in which they test the possible influence of green tea extracts on the development and progression of hormone-dependent tumors.

Green tea slows the decay

According to Prof. Onishi from the University of Tokyo, in children, a cup of green tea per day reduces the risk of tooth decay by half. Green tea contains fluoride, which is used to prevent tooth decay. The (almost) complete extraction of fluoride from the leaves lasts between one and five minutes.

Green tea keeps one young

According to the research done by Prof. Okada from the Okayama University, green tea is 20 times more effective against the aging process than vitamin E.
Green tea against atherosclerosis

According to the research of Japanese and American physicians, green tea extracts have a preventive effect against atherosclerosis. This is also the explanation for the fact that Chinese people who drink green tea almost exclusively have lower cholesterol levels than Europeans and North Americans.
